The film is now dubbed as one of the greatest war films ever, yet the masterclass that was created arose from the most chaotic of origins. The film, which was produced in Vietman, was full of major problem from the word go. Martin Sheen had a heart attack on set which led to director Francis Ford Coppola having an epileptic fit upon hearing the news. Not only that, but actor Marlon Brando, who had arrived to play the role of Psycho Kurtz, turned up to location heavily overweight. For that reason a stunt double was used whenever his whole body had to be shown.
